A special memento presentation

It was a special presentation that Fr. Kevin Barry-Cotter made to these students from the Sacred Heart Central School on Saturday last. Back in 1970 Father was given these four papal flags when he was organising a pilgrimage to see Pope Paul II. He has always regarded them as a ‘special’ memento of that Papal visit.

BUT Fr Kevin decided to present them to some of the families who were travelling to Sydney on the Cootamundra bus last Sunday to attend World Youth Day at Randwick.

A GRAND VISIT

Well, the home of Mrs Michelle Baldry “Wallendoon” was certainly a fun filled happy home on Monday last when she hosted lunch for her brother (former Cootamundra gentleman) Fr. Geoff Meagher and 45 people from India. Fr Geoff who is a Jesuit priest has been living and working in India for many, many years and he has been out in Australia for the past two weeks together with others from India taking part in World Youth Day festivities.

For those who met Father Geoff and his ‘entourage’ on Monday it was a splendid experience - a group of happy, happy people delighting in their Australian stay.

Michelle’s sons James and Al organised a display of shearing for the visitors and after enjoying lunch, the group charmed all at “Wallendoon” with their singing.

Look forward to showing photos in Friday’s edition of Around Cootamundra.
