SYDNEY WEDDING

It was a special time for Graham and Marilyn Butt, of Muttama, when their son Robert Butt married Sydney girl Trisha Bayliss. The wedding took place at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Neutral Bay, with the reception following at the The Spit Yacht Club, Sydney.

Robert was assisted by an old University friend Rohan Clementson, who had travelled out from England for the wedding and an old Cootamundra school friend Shayne Brabin,

The wedding had an international flavor with guests having travelled from America, England, New Zealand, Brisbane, Melbourne and the Cootamundra district. A special guest at the wedding was the bridegroom’s grandmother Mrs Mollie Butt, of Cutler Avenue.

The happy couple here pictured have made their home on Sydney’s North Shore after having spent their honeymoon in Queensland and America.

Also pictured are Robert and Trisha together with the Butt family.

BIRTHDAY

CELEBRATIONS

How nice to be making mention of the following birthdays of ‘very special’ members of our community and district -

Lovely lady Mrs Helen Garner, of Northcott Avenue, did have a GRAND time last Saturday, July 5, when she celebrated her 80th birthday.

A Luncheon was held at the Railway Tavern Restaurant and attended by family and friends, some of her family members having travelled from afar as Adelaide, Port Macquarie, Canberra and Grenfell.

Family members tell the story that it was the first time that their mum had had a ‘fuss’ made on her birthday. Helen commented that the lunch served by the staff at the Railway Tavern Restaurant was first-class! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELEN.

AND, Lyn Basham of Stockinbingal, celebrated her 60th birthday on Saturday last and her husband Toby hosted a party at the Stockinbingal Bowling Club on Saturday night.

Lyn’s special guests were her son and daughter in law Todd and Angie Basham and their four beautiful children AND her mother in law Mrs Hazel Basham, of Cowcumbla Street (rumor has it this lovely lady is due to celebrated a GREAT milestone birthday next month).

There were 65 guests in attendance some having travelled from Wollongong, Coolamon and Harden. WARMEST WISHES LYN.

AND, I missed mentioning this one in last Friday’s paper. Geniel gentleman John Scott, of “Hillview”, celebrated his 60th birthday on Sunday last July 6.

His ‘brilliant’ wife Marrianne hosted lunch at home on Sunday together with their sons Billy and Bob (rumor has it the boys were ‘very entertaining’ acting as MC plus delivering speeches - particularly well received was the speech e-mailed from the UK by daughter Annabelle. Annabelle is currently doing a gap year in England). Have a great year Scotty!

SCHOOL REUNION

The Cootamundra Catholic Schools Reunion to be held over the October long weekend has already created unexpected interest from former students. A spokesman for the organising committee reports that many who have never before attended a school reunion are already booking in to attend, particularly girls from the 1940-70s. Younger groups are organising class gatherings. Many have already booked their Coota accommodation. So as accommodation may be limited over that long weekend with all the expected activities taking place, the spokesman suggested interested parties should finalise arrangements as soon as possible. Those wishing to be included should forward names and addresses to the Secretary Lyal Twyford, Back Brawlin Road, Cootamundra. Or Phone 0428 433 521, Email lyal@activ8.com.au OR leave details at Desis Fabrics.

Anyone who attended a Catholic School in Cootamundra is welcome as are spouses, partners and teachers, past and present. Remember, this is a rare opportunity to renew old acquaintances in a friendly atmosphere!
