THE town is set to enjoy a weekend of fabulous artwork with the 2008 Wattle Time Art Exhibition kicking off tonight, and continuing tomorrow and Sunday.

The exhibition, presented by the Cootamundra Soroptimists, is one of the most popular events during the Cootamundra wattle time period.

Some 260 works of art are on display at the Town Hall, with artists from all over the region taking part.

Tonight, for $15 per person, art enthusiasts, and those people simply wanting to enjoy a fun night out, can enjoy a glass of champagne, supper and the presentation of awards to category winners.

Doors will open at 7pm, with the presentation ceremony set to commence at 8pm.

Fairfax Deputy CEO, Brian McCarthy, will be a special guest, presenting an award sponsored by Rural Press and dedicated to Cootamundra icon and former Cootamundra Herald Editor, the late Barry Clarke.

All artwork will be for sale upon completion of the judging process.

A number of stalls will operate over the weekend, with a variety of quality merchandise from glassware to greeting cards.

The exhibition will be open on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10amto 3.30pm.
