PAUL Braybrooks was elected Mayor of Cootamundra for a fourth term at last night’s Shire Council meeting. Cr Braybrooks defeated former Deputy Mayor Doug Phillips, the only other nominee for the position. Cr Phillips was also a nominee for Deputy Mayor along with Cr Allan Smith but it was another Smith, Cr Bruce Smith who won the ballot, having stood for the position without success on two previous occasions. Cr Braybrooks thanked Councillors for giving him the privilege and honour of being Mayor of Cootamundra again and congratulated Cr Smith on his elevation to the position of Deputy Mayor.
